“We love what John Henry did for the Red Sox,’’ said Treacy, chairman of the Liverpool Supporters Club in Boston. “If Liverpool wins the league in a few years, he’ll be an honorary citizen of Liverpool. The people would embrace him.’’
Henry’s holding company, New England Sports Ventures, had its bid of $477 million accepted yesterday by Liverpool’s board of directors. That money would cover the debt and bank charges incurred by owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett when they purchased the team in 2007.

English Premiere League soccer team Liverpool FC anounced Wednesday that it has accepted a purchase offer by New England Sports Ventures, the parent company of the Boston Red Sox. Said LFC chairman Martin Broughtond:
“The Board decided to accept NESV’s proposal on the basis that it best met the criteria we set out originally for a suitable new owner. NESV’s philosophy is all about winning and they have fully demonstrated that at Red Sox.
It seems as if Red Sox nation have a English Premier League club to root for!
Whoa: Pats and Vikings Talking Randy Moss Trade?
According to Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com, the Patriots are in “serious” trade talks that would send Randy Moss to Minnesota.
Glazer said the two sides have been talking about a deal since the beginning of the season, and that the negotiations “heated up” Monday and Tuesday. A Patriots spokesman said after Glazer’s report first surfaced that “there is no trade.”
